Another heavyweight contender for 2020 World Champion Of The Online Courses is the big, the bold, the mighty (and aptly named) Local Client Takeover!!! This training platform that helps you learn how to rank websites for local businesses and get paid for it. Your job? Get hired by local businesses to knock out their competition in the Google search rankings and bring your clients new customers that they weren’t getting before!
(Kinda like the time Kimbo Slice TKO’d that dude with the first punch. Remember that?)
Local Client Takeover is more than just an online course that leads you through the mysterious forest of SEO, over the Dread Hills of paid ads, out of the zombie-infested Rot Swamps of Google Map listings, and into the green pastures of your hopes and dreams. “Must be a scam” you say!
Not even slightly. This course is 100% whole-grain wheat! (Can you tell I’m hungry?)
So what does that equate to?
It’s a blueprint for Client SEO success.
they break down the previously overwhelming amount of information into easily digestible portions.
(Kinda like those little Lunchables we used to get when we were kids… So delicious…)
So I’ll just go ahead and stop this broadcast to say that I also bought into another course (bit similar but wildly different results) that’s more my style. That’s because with this business model, instead of hoping your clients will keep your services after you get them “ranked and banked” as we say… You own everything.
Let me explain…
With Local Client Takeover, you’re still working for other companies, working to rank THEIR website.
In my lead generation business that I was taught with this local lead generation course, I rank MY OWN websites to the top of Google and get paid on autopilot for the leads that my own sites generate monthly. Here’s one of my sites.
I own the website and the tracking phone number, so my clients can never leave me. They have to keep paying me month after month.
If they don’t. I can begin sending the leads to their competitor.
I’m in full control.
And my clients ain’t complainin’ because they’re getting the leads they were never getting before.
The issue with doing SEO for other companies (Local Client Takeover) once you rank the site, those companies (in my experience) 80% of them eventually say… “Hey thanks for ranking our site, but we can’t afford to pay you anymore…”
And just like that, 6 months of hard work down the drain.
Because you ranked someone else’s site that you don’t control
This is why today, as of 7/10/2020… I don’t do any Client SEO work. I only rank MY OWN sites.
This shift in my business model is literally what took me from struggling at $2-$3K per month to now $50K per month because NOW my clients HAVE to stay with me longterm.
Its the mafia move. Once they get the leads, they can’t live without and I control where I send the leads to.
Pay me monthly like a nice tenant, and you can continue to reap the benefits of my prime real estate (at the top of Google).
If you start missing my monthly pay… you get the eviction notice and I start looking for another local company to start sending leads to.
Now imagine what happens when you begin building 50 of these lead generation sites that you own all over Google. Basically, you’re building digital assets that machine-gun your clients with thousands of qualified leads on a weekly basis, spent shells bouncing off the pavement as they throw money at you.
There’s another thing I like more about this other lead gen course that I went through, which is that it focuses on some mostrously important aspects of web design that jack the lead generation through the roof and make sure that you make money while you sleep for a veeeery long time.
And I mean with little or no homework to do once things get working.
Just to put things in perspective, I have assets from 2015 still raining benjamins into my bank account to this very day, and I haven’t touched them since.
Oh, what’s that? Business owner sucks on the phone? Fire him and find somebody that doesn’t yell at your customers. (Yes, that actually happened…)
But that’s just me.
So let’s sit down, have a little pow-wow, and talk about the pros and cons of this type of business like normal people instead of listening to me rant like an old man that’s lost his glasses. (Darn whipper snappers…)
So I officially present to you… (Drumroll please)
The pros and cons of local lead generation.
Local Lead Generation: Is It Right For Me?
Easily scalable. It’s not uncommon for agency owners to be making 20 or $30,000 a month after getting a few high-profile clients. (Bottle service’s on you!) That’s because the basic tasks involved in digital agencies are easy to teach to VAs overseas for cheap. You have to watch them closely though, because they won’t love your clients the same way you do. And can you blame ’em?
You have basically zero overhead. That’s because you aren’t renting a building, buying products, or paying the light bill. And absolutely zero need to buy one of those wacky inflatable arm guys! (Well, I guess you can buy one if you want.) Web hosting is also paid by the client, and most of your tools can be purchased cheaply through group buys.
You aren’t digging ditches in the sun. While that does give you some pretty ripped biceps, you ain’t doing yourself any favors in the long run. And let’s face it, if you’re a foot-dragger like I was, the boss is gonna give you hell. Hustling car parts in an air-conditioned building isn’t so bad in comparison, but the pay is horrible.
You have to talk to actual human beings. Yeah, so one downside is that you do have to enjoy talking to business owners. It helps to learn about their industry and know how to gauge whether or not they’re a good fit for you. (You’re the one with the superpower, right? They have to work for you!) The moment you stop sounding desperate is when you really start closing deals like it’s nobody’s business. There’s actually another group I’m in that teaches you how to build your own digital assets, which means you’re the boss. (But I’ll get to that later.)
Finding qualified business owners can be a little bit tricky. But hey, mining for gold ain’t easy, right? Sometimes you gotta get your hands dirty. (Speaking of gold mining, did you know they use cyanide for that? Count me out…) Once you get the hang of targeting only the right biz owners that know the power of what you do, it’s like selling candy to a baby. Or… Something really easy like that. You get the point. Bottom line is, you’re needed. All you have to do is present yourself to the right people.
There’s probably some part of the process you don’t love. But hey, hustling tooth whitening products on Instagram can be pretty boring too. And you know what? You can partner up with somebody that compliments your personality, kinda like the Three Musketeers. No swashbuckling necessary. I definitely recommend the poofy shirts though, just for good measure.
My official 2020 course outline for Mark Luckenbaugh’s Local Client Takeover!
The good stuff
You learn top dog secrets about Google Maps listings. These might just be mini gold mines all by themselves. If you’re in the top three positions in a city, you pop up. Fo free. And since the map listings are usually the first thing you see on Google, that’s a lovely place to be. It takes time and a little money to get to the top, but it’s pretty great when you get there.
You’ll learn how to power up your clients’ sites, straight from the masters. Mark is an amazing marketer, and one of his specialties is his ability to make his clients’ sites insanely powerful. Well, you’re gonna learn that right off the bat. That means that with a little salesmanship, you can keep those clients for a long time.
The not-so-good stuff
You ain’t got no friends. With this course, there’s no way to get your questions answered quickly . Sometimes, you have to sit and watch endless hours of videos just to find one stinking piece of information that you needed. And that takes away from crucial time you could spend binge watching Game Of Thrones reruns to try and figure out what went wrong… (Seriously though, that ending?)
You’re at the mercy of your clients. Once you get them ranked, some of them will want to say “Bye Felicia!” And that ain’t cool. The truth is, they need you to constantly monitor their digital baby like a babysitter, but sometimes they just don’t get that. (And man, when digital babies throw a fit, crap really hits the fan…)
Lots of their best modules are still in production. Stuff like Google Ads can give you super powers and have you hammering leads down your clients’ pipeline like Thor’s hammer, and Local Client Takeover just ain’t got it yet. That means it can take months for your clients to see a return on their investment. (And it sucks asking for that paycheck when your clients aren’t making any money themselves.)
There’s nothing about how to gear up a website for war. That means you’re stuck with a crappy nerf bat when you needed a dang tomahawk. The missile, not the hatchet. You’re left searching for a web designer that knows nothing about what makes a website amazing at generating leads from the traffic it receives. The training I’m about to tell you about has this in spades. I knew absolutely nothing about how to build a website, and now my digital peons build hundreds of them for me every year, like the Orc builders in WarCraft.
(Remember the peons? No… Well… Ehhh… I tried.)
So how can we sum all of this up?
Local lead generation is something that just ain’t going away any time soon.
Pretty soon here, more and more people are gonna be hopping on this train, so get on it while you can! With so many people focusing on SEO alone, you’ll always be able to keep on the up and ups.
But unlike parachute pants, most local lead generation techniques stay in style, and don’t suffer from constant Google updates. (Where my nineties kids at?)
And the cool thing is, once you have a client in one industry you can start focusing on that industry as a specialist. And that’s when they really start listening to you.
So what’s the takeaway man?
My first client paid me a measly 150 bucks to do some work on his site, I told him about my other services…
To this day, he pays me $2,000 a month.
You wanna know why he hasn’t stopped? Because I found a group that teaches you how to build your own digital assets that produce leads until the end of time. Or at least as long as the internet exists. And… I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty sure the internet isn’t going away any time soon.
Until Skynet from Terminator 2 happens, of course.
But by that time we’ll all be fighting off hordes of killer robots that look like Arnold Schwarzenegger anyway…
What’s even better, the friendships I’ve forged in this group not only changed my life, but my bank account as well. It’s funny when the students become the teachers, you know? Not only do I get to meet hard-working business owners with a laser beam focus and change their lives, I’ve also made some of the best friendships I could ever ask for in this marketing group.
If you run into a snag, if something blows up in your face…
I have access to the best support group I’ve ever been a part of in my entire life. And you know what? I’ve been in a lot of darn support groups. Everybody pushes everybody else to the next level. Pulls you even. That’s because you’re in the room, talking to incredibly intelligent and driven human beings that just want to see you succeed wildly.
By the way, look at the event we just had in June! Every year it gets better, and 2020 has been the best so far.
Every single year, some new skill presents itself in spectacular fashion…
This time around, we learned some of the biggest players get their sites to show up on the world stage.
There was even a guy making a stupid amount of money just helping businesses sell their products on Instagram. He even quit his well-paid sales position at a national firm because he made more in his bathrobe! Oh, and word is there’s a training coming out for Instagram for those that like that kind of thing.
Success happens like clockwork when you find the right group, and I can definitely say that I’ve found mine.
Here’s a post in our Facebook group from June 2nd 2020…
Using the techniques I learned in this group, anybody can taste the sweet taste of victory. And for a long time.
You can easily scale this business from zero to 100 as fast as you like. All it takes is a little “hustle” muscle” as Grant Cardone likes to say.
You can ease into the lake, or you can just jump straight in from the rocks above. The choice is yours.
The money that I rake in comes in steadily, and as long as I have a business owner renting out my online real estate, everything works like magic. Heck, I might even take up a new hobby.
And you know what? Business owners will always need our services. No matter what, there’s gonna be another hungry business owner out there that wants to spend more time his kids, go hunting in the off season, or even take up underwater basket weaving lessons.
You could offer me all the free hot dogs on the world, I still wouldn’t leave this group for any other. And that’s all I have to say about that.
